The data showed that consuming more than 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil per day reduced the risk of heart disease by 15 percent, and the risk of coronary heart disease by 21 percent.

However, several other studies have found some evidence that extra virgin olive oil has a higher content of polyphenols. Polyphenols are good for lowering lipids or fats and inflammation.

While replacing animal oils with vegetable or olive oil is an important step for improving heart health, it’s not the only factor.
