Balap Iring-iringan Presiden, Sopir Ambulans...

1NEWS, Ambulance driver Achmad Faisal (31) has experience racing President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) convoy in East Kalimantan while on duty.

Achmad recounted that the incident of racing the President’s convoy occurred on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Samarinda, East Kalimantan on Tuesday (24/8/2021).

At that time, Achmad was in charge of bringing patients with low hemoglobin (HB). He took patients from Sungai Siring Health Center to Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Hospital (AWS).

As an ambulance driver, speeding and racing vehicles on the road is normal for Achmad. The goal is for patients to arrive at the hospital and immediately help medical personnel.

However, Achmad found different things on Tuesday afternoon. At around 12.30 WITA, the ambulance he was carrying passed President Jokowi’s entourage. Initially, Achmad did not know that the convoy he would be racing was escorting the number one person in Indonesia.

“The incident was right on Jl. DI Panjaitan, so when I passed Panjaitan, I saw it was the first Toyota Hi Ace group, I passed, given the police lane on the left, I continued along, so right in front of the Budi Center, I saw It turned out that there was a car entourage, Mr. President, I saw the license plate Indonesia 1, I was surprised that I wanted to be overtaken or not,” said Achmad to reporters, Wednesday (25/8/2021).

Achmad tried to keep overtaking and apparently the police who were escorting the President gave way.

“Tell me to go forward, wave my hand and tell me to come forward. After I went forward, so close to the president’s car, I opened the window, I just shouted “Permission sir,” he (the president) waved, I immediately went forward again,” he said teharu.

Achmad appreciated the police who prioritized the ambulance, even though they were escorting the President.

“I have respect for the police, it turns out that they still prioritize the interests of ambulances over the President’s entourage. This experience will continue to make an impression, especially in the midst of the ambulance issue which is difficult to break through traffic jams,” he explained.

Achmad said that the experience of overtaking the President’s convoy will never be forgotten.

“An experience that I can’t forget for the rest of my life. A president just wants to pave the way for ambulances, but private cars don’t want to open roads for ambulances,” Achmad quipped.[]
