Six hour-long HBO Asia Original crime thriller series from the Philippines On The Job (#OTJonHBOGO) is starting to air globally and exclusively on HBO GO. Access to stream or download the first three episodes on Sunday, September 12. The next episode will air every Sunday.
Inspired by true events, the series revolves around a crime syndicate that temporarily frees an inmate, contracted to carry out political assassinations for those in power, except for crime syndicates run by politicians. Convicts contracted as assassins Tatang (Joel Torre), Daniel (Gerald Anderson), and Roman (Dennis Trillo) are sometimes released from prison to be tasked with killing on orders of mysterious powerful clients. Meanwhile, law enforcers Joaquin (Joey Marquez) and Francis (Piolo Pascual), as well as journalists Sisoy (John Arcilla) and Arnel (Christopher De Leon) try to uncover the truth behind the murders and disappearances.
The series also highlights the realities of the world regarding fake news and how easily the truth can be twisted and disseminated to the public in today’s information age.
The first two episodes of the series were screened as a film at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival while the last four episodes will be screened as a film at the prestigious 78th Competition.th Venice Film Festival.
Created and directed by Erik Matti, the series in English and Filipino was filmed in the Philippines, the series also stars Dante Rivero (Major Pedring Eusebio) and Lotlot De Leon (Weng).

#101 “Tatang” – Airing Sunday, September 12
Inmate Tatang and his protégé Daniel are temporarily released from prison for carrying out a series of murders against a powerful politician. Police veteran Joaquin takes on the case, but his efforts are thwarted when the young detective Francis gets involved. The feuding law enforcement officers pick up the trail of the killers and try to stop them on their next target.
#102 “Joaquin” – Airing Sunday, September 12
As the hunt for the killers continues, Joaquin sticks to his duty as a cop while Francis faces pressure from his political father-in-law and his powerful ally General Pacheco. Tatang contemplates the possibility of rebuilding his family and having a future outside prison while Daniel, having won the trust of their employers, begins to pursue his own mission.
#103 “Arnel” – Airing Sunday, September 12
Evidence of the conspiracy reached the city of La Paz, where the publisher of the newspaper owned by Arnel Pangan was under siege for his political beliefs, much to the dismay of the editor, seasoned journalists and loyal supporters of the Sisoy Salas government. Harassment also increased causing bloody incidents.
#104 “Pedring” – Airing Sunday, September 19
Sisoy searches for his missing co-workers, but his hopes of finding them dwindle as time goes on. An eyewitness emerged as the criminal syndicate quickly removed the details. Inside the prison, Roman struggles with the internal political intricacies of the prison while hiding the main evidence that Sisoy is looking for.
#105 “Roman” – Airing Sunday, September 26
Sisoy and Weng find a breakthrough in their investigation when they finally attribute the disappearance of their comrades to powerful political figures. Roman receives a life sentence, taking him deeper into the gun rental business. He gets back on an assassination mission with his new cellmate, Popoy.
#106 “Sisoy” – Airing Sunday, October 3rd
Sisoy and Roman help each other try to get to the root of the murder. Amid suspicions from his masters that he is pitting them against each other, Roman decides to fight for his freedom. Sisoy executes his reckless plan to uncover political crimes, endangering his own family in the process.
