While appearing on the latest episode of the podcast “The Jasta Show”, hosted by Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta, vocalist Testament, Chuck Billy regrets the fact that the band has never had a proper tour with Metallica. In fact, the two American thrash metal leaders have known each other for more than three decades.

Chuck Billy Reveals the Hilarious Reason

“We grew up with them in the same era, there was a moment where we performed at three festival-scale shows in Germany, met and greeted each other in the hallways. We plan to play at the Aftershock Festival in October. Testament will fill the show on the first night of the show,” said Chuck.

Chuck Billy himself is still very hopeful that Testament can share the stage with Metallica. “That’s certainly a great idea but do you know the story that our guitarist Eric Peterson actually married ex-girlfriend Kirk Hammet (Metallica guitarist -Ed.). Whether that was an excuse or not, we used to tease ‘Hey Eric, what are you doing? Why are you dating him? Because of you, we can’t tour with Metallica,’” Chuck said with a laugh.

Still One Circle Bay Area Thrash

It’s reminiscent of Elliott Fullam’s (Little Punk People) interview with frontman Metallica, James Hetfield in 2017. Hetfield was asked to name his favorite 1980s-era thrash metal band outside of “BIG FOUR” (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax).

James responded by saying “Oh my God! There are so many. Exodus for sure. We grew up with the people of the Bay Area, San Francisco. Oh yeah, and we stole their guitar player, hahaha (Kirk Hammett ex-Exodus guitarist -Ed.). Testament also includes… a lot of thrash bands in the Bay Area.”

Testament is also preparing for “The Bay Strikes Back Tour” with Exodus and Death Angel across the US. Starting October 6 at the Fremont Theater, California and ending in Austin, New York and Detroit until November 27 at The Fox, Oakland.
