Crazybola.com – Manchester United midfielder, Donny van de Beek, will not be included by Louis van Gaal in the Netherlands national team match in the international break next month.
Van Gaal, who was also the former coach of the Red Devils in 2014-2016, said Van de Beek had to start playing football regularly before returning to play in international tournaments.
This was revealed by Van Gaal directly to Van de Beek via international telephone lines, where the 70-year-old coach contacted the midfielder who has not played every week since he moved from Ajax to Old Trafford last year.
Van Gaal, who recently returned to the Dutch national team, left the Manchester United midfielder out of his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Norway, Montenegro and Turkey in September.
Despite admitting he had contacted Van de Beek directly, Van Gaal refused to reveal too many details of his conversation with the 24-year-old, even though Van Gaal was eager for Van de Beek to get more playing time.
“I called Donny van de Beek yesterday. I told him he had to play the game. I didn’t speak to any of the managers of my players. Maybe logically I should talk to them, but I haven’t done it yet,” said Van Gaal, as reported by Daily Mail.
“I spoke (with Van de Beek) last night for 45 minutes, but I’m not going to reveal what we talked about. I can advise my players,” added Van Gaal, who won the FA Cup for Manchester United.
Van de Beek had previously been absent from the Dutch national team when they competed at Euro 2020 due to injury. Of course, last season was really a bleak season for him after he became a mainstay at Ajax.
Van de Beek has often been an unused substitute for most of his first season with the Red Devils, where he played 36 games, but has not been played by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so far this 2021/22 season.
The Manchester United midfielder recorded 19 caps for the Dutch national team and scored three goals. Van Gaal’s side are second in Qatar 2022 World Cup Qualifying Group G and have six points in the three games they have played – just one point behind group leaders Turkey.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will play away to Wolves in the Premier League this weekend, which will be the last match before the international break.
