The preacher Ustaz Yahya Waloni has recently been in the spotlight after being arrested by the police for insulting religion in his lecture. Waloni’s arrest turned out to leave pros and cons in a number of circles. Some welcomed Waloni’s arrest, but others regretted it. One of those who regretted that Yahya Waloni was arrested was Habib Rizieq Shihab’s lawyer, Aziz Yanuar.
Aziz said the police should not have made the arrest. Because, Yahya Waloni only delivered insulting sentences in front of his own congregation, and was part of a religious lecture, so according to him it was legitimate for Waloni to deliver the lecture.
“Yes, we are very sorry huh. We suspect it was aimed at Muslims, part of a religious lecture,” Aziz said.
Then, Aziz Yanuar also admitted that he was worried that if a statement like Ustaz Yahya Waloni’s was deemed to be insulting to religion, there would be many things related to other religions in the Al-Quran and hadith that could also be disputed.
“There are many stories about other people, Jews, Christians, and infidels, that will also be questioned later,” he said.
Husin Shihab is angry
Seeing such a statement from Aziz Yanuar, Chairman of Cyber Indonesia, Habib Husin Alwi Shihab was furious. Husin Alwi said that Aziz Yanuar’s statement was the same as confirming a lecture from Yahya Waloni.
Husin Shihab also stated that it was not without reason that Yahya Waloni was arrested by the police. He said, if Waloni had been right all along, then he would not have been arrested by the authorities.
At the end of his tweet, Habib Husin Alwi Shihab firmly said that Aziz Yanuar’s logic was skewed in conveying this statement. This kind of logic, he added, can lead others astray.
“This HRS lawyer justified YW’s lecture. If YW is right, he won’t be arrested. This slanted logic is what makes other people go astray,” tweeted Habib Husin Shihab on Twitter Twitter, quoted by Hops.ID, Saturday, August 28, 2021.
Previously, Ustaz Yahya Waloni was arrested by a team from the Directorate of Cyber Crime (Dittipidsiber) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police at his residence located in Cibubur, West Java, Thursday afternoon, August 26, 2021.
Yahya Waloni was charged with the same article as another perpetrator of insulting religion, namely Muhammad Kece. He was faced with Article 28 paragraph 2 Juncto Article 45A paragraph 2 of Law no. 19 of 2016 concerning ITE and/or Article 156a of the Criminal Code concerning blasphemy. Now, Yahya Waloni has been named a suspect.
