“Every Saraswati Day celebration, prayers are always held at the village library,” said Sabha Widya Sradha Library Coordinator I Wayan Wira Adnyana.

Saraswati Day is the day of the descent of knowledge which is grateful to God as the source and creator of knowledge.

Adnyana said the library had existed since 2016.

This started from the reading corner and finally in 2020 a committee was formed to manage the village library.

These books come from community donations and also assistance from the Department or related agencies as well as some from the APBDes.

His party also created a book bank for people who donated books to support and add to the collection of books in the village library.

Adnyana said that through this book bank, people could donate books.

“We then sort the donated books and give them a number and arrange them on the bookshelf according to category,” he said.

Before the Covid-19 outbreak hit, there were quite a few visits to the village library, up to 20 people a day, mostly students.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the library was closed, then reopened because many students wanted to find references to make assignments.

“They (students) also make assignments in this library,” said Sumerta Village Head Kelod I Gusti Ketut Anom Suardana. (ant)
