Torino Immediately Signs Mustafi Ahead of the Close of the Transfer Market – Former Arsenal centre-back Shkodran Mustafi is reportedly getting closer to joining Torino after his contract with Schalke 04 expired in June.

Still ambitious to strengthen their team ahead of the closing of the player transfer window on August 31, Torino continues to hunt for a new retainer. One name that is now reportedly close to joining Ivan Juric’s team is the German defender who has played for Arsenal, Shkodran Mustafi.

Mustafi himself has been on a free transfer since the end of June because his contract with Schalke 04 has officially ended and there is no agreement to extend it. The player himself had actually had quite a long conversation with the Turin team but it was only before the close of the transfer window that an agreement between the two parties could be reached.

Now Mustafi, according to Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia, Mustafi will soon start his medical test before he can officially join Juric’s team this season. The management of Torino itself has just received pressure from their coach to immediately bring in new retainers if they want to improve the performance of a team that last season had to fight their way out of the relegation zone.

Mustafi is actually an alternative figure because initially Il Toro intended to bring in Ozan Kabak, but the defender who also plays at Schalke is now said to be joining Norwich City. The former German national team player is also not a stranger in Serie A because he has played for Sampdoria so he will be able to provide enough experience later.

The presence of Mustafi is expected to be more satisfying to Juric because previously Torino had also reached an agreement to bring in Dennis Praet from Leicester City. Of course, the presence of the two new players is expected to be able to make the coach focus more on fixing his team and not think too much about the player transfer market anymore.

Torino had a disappointing start to Serie A after losing their first two matches against Atalanta and then Fiorentina. Not wanting to repeat the bad performance of last season, Juric is expected to be able to immediately lift the performance of his team.
