The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno is preparing a regulation that stipulates that intellectual property rights (HKI) or intellectual property (IP) can be used as collateral for loans.
He also ordered Kemenparekraf officials to immediately expedite the issuance of this regulation in the next few weeks. This regulation is being prepared at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

“This is an order! The order is to speed up the process for regulations relating to intellectual property rights that can be used as collateral or loan guarantees,” said Sandiaga Uno at an online seminar in Jakarta, Sunday, quoted from

If the regulations are in place, Sandiaga Uno will later say that as Menparekraf, he can collaborate. One of them is related to the plan to collaborate with SOE Minister Erick Thohir so that Himbara banking can provide credit access to Indonesian intellectual property rights.

This is both managed by SOEs and those managed by the private sector to open the door in order to get capital.

“Because of course by having one intellectual property right, the creator of the work will not stop there. We have to develop starting from the animation, the merchandise, and so on,” he said.

He also added that this is a concrete collaboration step and Jakarta is the epicenter for the creative economy.
