Dreams – Breast milk (ASI) is the best intake for babies, especially in the first 1,000 days. Unfortunately, the worrying condition of the COVID-19 pandemic stresses nursing mothers. This triggers the anxiety of mothers about the adequacy of breast milk production for the baby.
“This pandemic, which stresses some mothers, affects milk production. And based on data, 66 percent of mothers have experienced a lack of milk production,” said Rahne Putri, Head of Branding Mama’s Choice, at the Mama Choice virtual conference, August 2021.
In addition to stress, there are many factors that cause low milk production. In this condition reducing the frequency of breastfeeding is the wrong way.
In fact, the more often you breastfeed, the hormones in your body will produce more milk. In order not to be misguided, consider some ways to make breast milk more abundant.
1. Increase Breastfeeding Frequency
One way to facilitate the production of breast milk and make it more abundant is to increase the frequency of breastfeeding. The more often you breastfeed, the more milk supply will be in the breast.
This is because if breast milk has decreased, the hormone prolactin will stimulate the body to produce milk again.
“The hormone oxytocin functions to secrete breast milk and after the baby is fed, the hormone prolactin will stimulate the body to produce breast milk again, so the more often the milk is produced,” said dr. Sara Elisa Wijono, MRes, Lactation Counselor on the same occasion.
