Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema have released a new trailer for their horror-thriller film James Wan entitled Malignant. The trailer for the film, which is currently slated to hit theaters and on HBO Max on September 10, features terrifying new footage with the insertion of an interview with James Wanyang describing the film as something new and different that audiences will love.
In this latest Malignant trailer, it appears that the main character played by Annabelle Wallis experienced a supernatural “vision” where she saw an evil and dark entity kill a number of people. Now he must figure out how to stop this entity from further destruction before it’s too late.
In addition to the trailer, they also released a retro-themed poster through their account Twitter official from Warner Bros., which shows a dagger with blood dripping on the blade. Beneath the dagger and its title was a human face that seemed to have been erased.
Malignant centers on Madison, who is paralyzed by shocking visions of a grisly murder. The torment of this “vision” gets worse when he discovers that this dream is actually a terrifying reality.
This film stars Annabelle Wallis (The Loudest Voice, The Mummy, Annabelle), Maddie Hasson (Impulse, Novitiate, I Saw the Light), George Young (A Bread Factory Parts 1 & 2, Containment, Grace), Michole Briana White (Lila and Eve, She Hate Me, Encino Man), Jake Abel (Another Life, Dirty John, Love & Mercy), Jacqueline McKenzie (Pine Gap, Halifax: Retribution, Romper Stomper: Next Gen), and Ingrid Mute (The Nun, Toni Erdmann).
Apart from directing, James Wan is also producing and co-writing Malignant with his fiancé Ingrid Mute. Wan is also re-collaborating with some of his longtime colleagues, such as director of photography Don Burgess and editor Kirk Morri, as well as production designer Desma Murphy and costume designer Lisa Norcia. The music is composed by Joseph Bishara, who has composed the music for seven films in The Conjuring Universe.
James Wan hasn’t directed a horror film since The Conjuring 2 which was released in 2016, however, he has been heavily involved in the expansion of the Conjuring universe, producing The Nun, Annabelle Comes Home, and The Conjuring 3. It’s safe to assume that the film previously had a production code silver cup will be something completely different from the universe Conjuring, which horror fans should welcome. As for those who might be worried about status Aquaman 2, this sequel will only be present in December 2022.
As is the case with almost all Warner Bros. films. This year, Malignant will also hit theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously on September 10, 2021.
