A video recording residents fighting over gifts from President Jokowi in a dirty trench suddenly went viral on social media.

Democratic politician who is also a telematics expert, KRMT Roy Suryo, admitted that he was sad to see videos of people being treated like this when they received gifts from President Jokowi.

Even at first Roy Suryo did not believe that the recording of the moment occurred in Indonesia.

“Swear, I thought this was an old video about conditions in an underdeveloped country that was being circulated again and viral on social media,” said Roy Suryo, quoted by Hops on Wednesday, September 1, 2021.

Then Roy Suryo received convincing news that the incident took place in Cirebon, West Java.

Suddenly he admitted that he was surprised and astonished because the people were treated in such a way by a leader like the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

“But after there was an explanation in this Mainstream media, Astaghfirullah, it happened in INDONESIA yesterday. How do you treat your people like that? Ambyar!” he added.

The event of distributing gifts from Jokowi that went viral

As is well known, a video recording residents fighting over a gift allegedly from President Jokowi was hotly discussed.

As for citing Kumparan, in that incident the residents of Cirebon City were willing to jump into the waterways to get a gift from President Joko Widodo.

After visiting residents’ homes in RW 05 Pengampaan, Kalijaga Village, Harjamukti Subdistrict, Cirebon City, before leaving the location, President Jokowi distributed gifts to residents he met.

Along the way to his official car which was ready to be parked in front of one of the residents’ houses, besides greeting, smiling and communicating lightly with residents, Jokowi distributed gifts, including to residents who were already waiting on the other side of the waterway. Some of the gifts fell into the waterways.

Some residents did not waste this opportunity, they immediately plunged into the water channel to take a package that was wrapped in transparent plastic containing like a black t-shirt. Residents, including small children, did not feel uncomfortable when they plunged into the waterways and fell in the mud and murky water to pick up the gifts.

After visiting RW 05 Pengampaan, Kalijaga Village, Harjamukti District, Cirebon City, President Jokowi and his entourage headed to SMAN 1 Beber, Cirebon Regency to review the implementation of mass vaccination.

After that, Jokowi will continue his visit to Tonjong Village, Sangkanurip Village, Kuningan Regency, West Java, to review the implementation of door-to-door vaccinations and to several other places.

Jokowi’s visit to Cirebon City/Regency and Kuningan Regency, West Java ended with the inauguration of the Kuningan Cibeureum Dam, including visiting residents affected by the construction of the Cibereum Dam.
