Just Joined the Swiss National Team, Arsenal Midfielder Has Been Exposed to Covid-19

Crazybola.com – Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, who over the weekend was the target of many for his reckless tackle on Joao Cancelo that saw him receive a red card, was forced to miss Switzerland’s match against Greece last night.

Investigate, the absence of Granit Xhaka in the friendly match against Greece at St Jakob-Park on Thursday (2/8) early morning WIB was because he was exposed to Covid-19, as confirmed by the Swiss football federation.

The Arsenal midfielder was left out of the squad to face The Pirate Ship in a friendly last night after he showed symptoms the previous day. A PCR test later came back positive, leading to him being ruled out of the match and a member of the Swiss dressing room staff also being quarantined.

“Xhaka was diagnosed with symptoms on the morning of the match and was immediately isolated in his room,” the Swiss federation wrote in a statement. “The rapid test turned out to be negative. A PCR test was then carried out and produced a positive result in the evening. Granit Xhaka is out of touch with his team-mates all day.”

“He will do another PCR test on Thursday. The Baselland region doctor did not order any further action for the team as the other players in the senior national team have all been vaccinated or have recovered from Covid-19. A staff member should be quarantined.”

This week has been a tough one for Granit Xhaka, who previously received widespread criticism after receiving a red card for a dangerous tackle on Joao Cancelo. Arsenal finally had to lose 5-0 to Manchester City after only playing with 10 men.

Now the 28-year-old midfielder is also in doubt for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Italy on Monday (6/9) CEST and Northern Ireland on Thursday (9/9).
