In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic that is still rampant, the Chinese government is still carrying out a policy of prohibiting flying abroad for the public.
This decision is expected to have an impact on reducing tourists from China, which is the largest group of tourists in the world of tourism.

Launching Antara, China’s aviation regulator may still tighten the operation of international flights throughout the first half of 2022.

Air China said this step was taken because other countries are also still slow to open borders due to low vaccination rates and soaring cases of COVID-19.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) last month said the weekly international flight rate was only two percent compared to 2019 because many flights were suspended amid the high number of imported COVID-19 cases.

China’s three largest airlines: Air China, China Southern Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines said in their call that the restrictions imposed by the CAAC on international flights are likely to continue into Semester I 2022 as the government’s approach to preventing COVID-19 ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympics in February, said HSBC Asia Head of Shipping, Ports and Transport Research, Parash Jain, Wednesday.

According to Jain, the move will push back the total recovery to 2024. Expectations of a delayed recovery in international travel have in part led analysts to lower earnings forecasts over the next few years.
