CR7’s Surprising Comeback

Summer transfer 2021 will probably be one of the most memorable summer transfer periods by football lovers. The reason, this summer transfer presents various surprising moments. One of them is the simultaneous transfer of two players labeled the world’s greatest players, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

If Messi chooses a new adventure with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, then it is different with Ronaldo. Instead of choosing a new adventure, Ronaldo actually returned to Old Trafford which was once his 2nd hometown after Portugal. Ronaldo surprisingly joined Manchester United after his contract expired at Juventus.

As quoted by the media ride88 from the Daily Mirror source, Ronaldo’s move clearly surprised various parties. Moreover, the inauguration of Ronaldo as a Manchester United player for the second time was presented in the final seconds before the close of the 2021 summer transfer. Ronaldo has signed a two-year contract for the English club.

Sir Alex’s Big Role

Behind his phenomenal move to United, Ronaldo revealed that in fact, there was a role for Sir Alex Ferguson. The Portugal national team star may have left the Red Devils, more than 12 years ago. But Ronaldo admits that so far, he is still in touch with Sir Alex who he considers like his own father.

“As everyone knows, since I first joined Manchester United when I was 18 years old, Sir Alex Ferguson was the key.” Ronaldo explained in an interview session via the official website of the Red Devils. “I remember when I played against United, and at that time I was still a Sporting Lisbon player.”

“I think of Sir Alex Ferguson as his own father in the world of football. He helped me a lot, and told me many things. I think he played a big role in my career because of the relationship between the two of us. I really like him, and he was the key to me being here, as a Manchester United player.”

What Ronaldo said is in accordance with the facts. Ferguson was the one who saw the potential of a young Portuguese boy who at that time strengthened Sporting Lisbon. In 2003, Ferguson brought Ronaldo to Old Trafford. At that time, he became the most expensive young player in the EPL, and became the first Portuguese player to join the Red Devils.

Slowly but surely, Ronaldo grew into a player who is often dubbed the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), or the Best Player of All Time. Record after record he carved, both together Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, or the Portugal national team. You could say, without Ferguson, Ronaldo probably wouldn’t be what he is today.
