“Portugal faced Ireland in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers and CR7 scored his 110th and 111th goals.”

1NEWS – Scored two goals against Ireland, Cristiano Ronaldo finally became the all-time leading scorer of the national team beating Ali Daei. The number is 111 goals or two goals ahead of the Iranian legend.

Ronaldo led Portugal during the fourth match of the 2022 World Cup Qualification in the European zone Group A at the Estadio Algavre, Faro, Thursday (2/9/2021) early morning WIB. Appearing dominant from the first minute, Portugal struggled to create the winning goals.

The long-awaited goal arrived in the 88th minute when Ronaldo headed in Goncalo Guedes’ cross. This goal made Ronaldo officially surpass Daei’s record (109 goals) as the top scorer for the national team. It was Ronaldo’s 110th goal since his Portugal debut in 2004.

One goal was not enough. CR7 then ensured Portugal’s 2-1 victory with his header in the 95th minute! European samba can finally go home with a smile.

The important thing is that Ronaldo is now the sharpest footballer in the history of the national team match. In addition, record after record was broken by Ronaldo while defending Portugal at Euro 2020. One of them was the tournament’s all-time top scorer with 11 goals.

It’s just that Ronaldo is still far behind the former Canadian women’s soccer player, Christine Sinclair, who made 186 goals. Ronaldo is only in eighth position behind Abby Wambach, Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, Birgit Prinz, Carli Lloyd, Julie Fleeting and Sinclair.

But, of course the level of women’s and men’s football is different. Competition at the men’s level is certainly much tighter and competitive with many world-class players involved.
