Witan Sulaeman Becomes Lechia Gdansk’s Money Machine? | 1NEWS

There was no cane root was finished. Maybe that’s the adage carried by the management of the Polish Ekstrklasa club, Lechia Gdansk, by bringing in a young player from Indonesia, Witan Sulaeman.

Witan was introduced as a new Lechia player yesterday with a two-year contract duration. Lechia is the second European club that Witan has defended after previously defending the Serbian team, FK Radnik Surdulica, in 2020. For 1.5 years, Witan has warmed the bench more often, and only appeared five times.

As was the case when recruiting Egy Maulana Vikri, Witan’s arrival to Lechia made a number of Polish media judges only from a business point of view. As is known, Egy did not get many opportunities with the first team, because he only played in ten matches with 132 minutes of playing.

Management also hopes that Witan can maintain relations between Lechia and Indonesia. When bringing in Egy, an Indonesian company, Paytren also became a sponsor. However, when Egy was not retained, Paytren also left. Not only that. The number of followers of Lechia’s social media accounts has also decreased.

Asked about the possibility of an Indonesian company becoming a sponsor again with Witan’s arrival, club president Pawel Zelem stated that it was still in talks.

“Maybe there will be news in the near future. But we don’t want to say anything until there’s a signature [kontrak kerja sama]. We aim to increase the club’s finances. We have talked about this with many companies,” said Zelem when accompanying new coach Tomasz Kaczmarek in a press conference, quoted on the Wyborcza website.

“I inform you that our new player from Indonesia, Witan Sulaeman, will join the team’s training today (yesterday local time). We also extended the contract of Brazilian player Conrado until June 2024,” Zelem added, as reported by the Sport Interia website.

Meanwhile, Kaczmarek is determined to improve Lechia’s performance this season. Of the six matches that have been passed, Lechia got two wins, three draws, and one defeat.

“I see a good foundation here. There are many players with good potential and quality. Maybe later there will be two or three aspects that need to be improved. I want to give it a different color, both on the pitch and off,” said Kaczmarek.
