The life of ancient humans is still a mystery. The journey of the ancestors in going through the tough times of having to fight against nature to become a modern man like today. Everything is still a mystery, because some of their traces have been lost with age.
Well, some discoveries of late are starting to reveal their traces in the past. One of them was the discovery of the Denisovan skeleton, the extinct subspecies of ancient humans. So what can be revealed from this discovery? Check out the following review.
The oldest ancient human fossils in Sulawesi
The findings, which were published some time ago regarding the discovery of the oldest ancient human skeleton, shocked the world. How not, because the Denisovan skeleton, one of the ancient human relatives of Homo sapiens, is one of the mysterious fossils. That’s because Denisovans are considered one of the extinct hominins.
They were found in the caves of Siberia and Tibet, their body structure is somewhat different from that of modern humans. The discovery of the Denisovan skeleton in Sulawesi is certainly a new breakthrough. We will be getting closer to knowing the traces of early humans, to the ancestors of modern humans today.
Called the ancestor of several nations
The existence of Denisovans has been extinct for a long time, but traces of its DNA are still found today. This subspecies of Homo Sapiens apparently has offspring in several regions of the world. Aboriginal and Papuan people have 6% of Denisovan DNA. It is thought that the DNA of this hominin was due to interbreeding between modern humans and Denisovans.
The existence of some of these studies, is also very helpful in tracking their migration journey. Remembering that in the past, Papua and Australia were still united as one landmass in the Sahul shelf, until they finally separated after the ice age was over and continues to shift as it is today.
Besse the mysterious woman who was found
The Denisovan fossil found was named Besse. Not haphazardly, as reported by the Kompas page, Besse’s name (referring to a newborn Bugis daughter) and was found buried face down. The state of the framework that is still good is a very satisfying finding and will form the basis for future research.
Well, while whether the Denisovans themselves have anything to do with Bugis ancestors, it is still unknown. Even if there were, it is likely that there would be very little DNA left, and most people in Indonesia probably don’t have it. However, further research should be done to determine it.
Denisovans, mysterious ancient humans
The Denisovan hominin is very unique and mysterious. Yes, they were first discovered in 2010 in caves in Siberia and in several other places. Initially, the Denisovan skeleton was thought to belong to an animal. Until researchers began to realize that the fossils belonged to early humans. Initially thought to be a close relative of Neanderthals, it turns out that their DNA and structure have some differences.
Finally the Hominin was given the name Denisovan after the name of the cave found, Denisovan. The problem of the cause of the extinction of this ancient human, is still unknown because most of the findings can not explain, how 7,000 years ago their species could not survive.
