Lionsgate has finally released the first teaser of Moonfall which is an epic film about the latest action-packed disaster directed by Roland Emmerich. As we all know, Emmerich is best known for his catastrophic and thrilling sci-fi films such as Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, and 2012. Moonfall which will be released on February 4th follows a group of people trying to save Earth as the Moon begins to “get closer.”

Moonfall rumored to be a film that is a combination of Encounters of the Third Kind by Steven Spielberg and 2012. The story follows a group of people who must band together to save humanity when the moon is out of orbit and hurtling toward Earth.” Yes, Emmerich seems to have returned to its roots, namely mass disaster-themed films.

In the film, it is told that a mysterious force displaces the Moon from its orbit and causes it to slide into a collision course with Earth. With just a few weeks before the collision, and Earth launches a dangerous mission into outer space, with a special team that requires them to abandon everyone they love and risk everything to land on the surface of the moon to save our planet from destruction.

Whereas Moonfall itself will be enlivened by various talented actors such as Patrick Wilson (Aquaman), John Bradley (Game of Thrones), Charlie Plummer (Spontaneous), Halle Berry (John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum), Donald Sutherland (Ad Astra), Michael Pena (Ant-Man), Carolina Bartczak (X-Men: Apocalypse), Eme Ikwuakor (Inhumans), Maxim Roy, and Stephen Bogaert (The Umbrella Academy).

Emmerich co-wrote the project with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen. Previously, this director had been bound to direct Moonfall since 2016 but had to postpone the project to work on Midway.
