Rp27.6 Billion Bribery Case, Former Head of ESDM Tanah Bumbu Named Suspect

1NEWS, The former Head of the ESDM Office of Tanah Bumbu Regency, H. RDPS bin M, was named a suspect in a corruption case at the Tanah Bumbu ESDM Office, South Kalimantan (Kalsel), in 2011–2016. RDPS is suspected of accepting bribes of Rp. 27.6 billion.

The Head of the Center for Legal Information (Kapuspenkum) at the AGO, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak said that this case began to be investigated on April 21, 2021.

The Director of Investigation at the AGO’s Jampidsus then named RDPS as a suspect with a Suspect Determination Letter Number: Print-21/F.2/Fd.2/09/2021.

“On this day (Thursday) also, the Director of Investigation at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes has issued a Detention Order Number: Print-18/F.2/Fd.2/09/2021 for the detention of suspect H. RDPS bin M,” said Leo in his press conference on Thursday (2/9/2021).

Leo continued, the Special Criminal Investigation Team (Pidsus) detained the suspect RDPS bin M who is a retired Civil Servant (PNS) for the next 20 days from today until September 21, 2021 at the State Detention Center (Rutan) at the Correctional Institution (Lapas). Class IIA Banjarmasin.

Prior to the detention, Leo continued, the Pidsus Investigative Prosecutor Team carried out a health examination and an antigen swab test for suspect H. RDPS bin M. Based on the examination of the medical team, suspect H. RDPS was declared healthy and negative for Covid-19.

“When the suspect H. RDPS bin M was examined as a suspect and will be detained, the suspect was accompanied by legal counsel,” he said.

Leo explained that RDPS bin M as a civil servant or state administrator with the position of Head of the ESDM Office of Tanah Bumbu Regency in 2011-2016 was suspected of having received a gift or promise or gratuity of IDR 27,650,000,000 (over IDR 27.6 billion).

For these actions, the AGO thinks that H. RDPS bin M is suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or letter b or Article 5 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Paragraph (1) letter a or letter b or Article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 as referred to in paragraph (1). amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

In addition, the AGO also suspects that RDPS bin M is suspected of violating Article 3, Article 4, and Article 5 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU). []
