“Another victim of Mikel Arteta who finally found a new club after being unemployed.”
1NEWS – The player who is considered a failure at Arsenal and another Mikel Arteta victim, Shkodran Mustafi, has found a new club after being unemployed for several weeks. The German centre-back of Albanian-Macedonian descent has joined Spanish club Levante.
Mustafi is without a club following the expiration of his short-term contract with Schalke 04 at the end of the 2020/2021 season. Initially, he was in talks to join Italian club Torino. However, the plan was canceled after Il Toro and the 29-year-old player disagreed on many things.
The failure to sign for Torino had made Mustafi imagine himself unemployed until the winter transfer window.

In the midst of the turmoil that hit, Levante immediately offered an 18-month contract. “Levante have reached an agreement with Shkodran Mustafi to include him in our squad until 30 June 2023, with the option of another season,” the Valencia club said in a statement on their official website.

Mustafi hopes playing in La Liga will provide his new club with much-needed stability. “From the first moment, I liked the idea of coming to Levante. We will give everything to take this club as high as possible,” said Mustafi.
The former Everton player’s contract with Arsenal expires in February 2021. However, no extension has been proposed because he is one of Mikel Arteta’s victims besides Mesut Ozil.

Two days after his departure from the Emirates Stadium, Mustafi wrote on social media: “Hi Gooners, after four years, 151 games and two FA Cups, I just wanted to say thank you to the Arsenal community, the great staff, the fans and of course my teammates,” Mustafi wrote.
“Together we went through good times and not so good, but we stand together. Arsenal is a fantastic club with great traditions and I feel happy and honored to wear the Arsenal jersey. My family and I will always remember the time we spent together. have in London and with Arsenal. Gooners, I wish you all the best! Thank you!” Mustafi continued.
From Arsenal, Mustafi returned to Germany to defend Schalke. Unfortunately, he experienced a difficult playing moment with Schalke making only 13 appearances during his return to Germany. In fact, Die Koenigsblauen had to be relegated to Bundesliga 2.
