1NEWS, Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen secured his sixth pole position in the last seven races after beating Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas at the 2021 Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix.
The race which took place at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, Saturday (4/9) evening WIB, Verstappen became the fastest after recording a time of 1 minute 08.885 seconds or only 0.038 seconds ahead of Hamilton who followed in second place.
Verstappen admitted, the car he was driving appeared very supportive. In addition, the Dutch racer also felt very special to be able to reach pole at the ‘cage’.
“What a wonderful feeling to get pole position here, the car is amazing and today was a lot of fun,” Verstappen said after qualifying as quoted by the Formula 1 twitter page, @F1.
“This is the best starting position, and we knew overtaking would be very difficult to do here.”
Hamilton, who finished second, said his team’s strategy was to be at the forefront of the grid. The second and third positions achieved by Mercedes will greatly benefit the nicknamed team Silver Arrows the.
“I hope the track will provide a tough race because it’s a very difficult circuit,” said Hamilton.
The fourth place was secured by the driver from the Alpha Tauri team, Pierre Gasly who successfully beat the Ferrari duo, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz who were ranked fifth and sixth respectively.
