Crazybola.com – Liverpool were threatened without their two strikers ahead of their Premier League return next week when Takumi Minamino picked up an injury during international duty which has seen him withdraw from the Japan national team.
Takumi Minamino added to Liverpool’s worries ahead of next week’s Premier League clash as a knock on international duty with Japan forced him to return to Anfield ahead of schedule.
Whereas previously Jurgen Klopp’s men had lost Brazil striker Roberto Firmino who suffered a hamstring problem during his team’s last match during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw at Anfield last weekend.
Actually, the Brazil international’s injury could have been an opportunity for Takumi Minamino to get playing minutes that he rarely gets at Liverpool, unfortunately he is now also injured.
The 26-year-old has so far not played a single game for The Reds in his opening three Premier League games when he had to contend with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino for a place up front.
A statement from the Japanese football federation on their official website read, “Midfielder Takumi Minamino (Liverpool FC) has been withdrawn from the team due to injury ahead of the Asian zone World Cup qualifying match against the Chinese national team. We will inform you of the additional players who have been called up to replace Minamino as soon as their fate is decided.”
Unfortunately, the Japanese football federation has given no indication of the severity of his injury and how long it will take for Takumi Minamino to recover. Liverpool will certainly hope that the versatile 26-year-old won’t be out for long.
