The Ahmadiyah Mosque in Temunak District, Sintang, West Kalimantan was damaged by hundreds of people after Friday prayers (3/9) yesterday. The crowd who came and destroyed the mosque, used various tools ranging from wood, bamboo, to stone. This incident suddenly made a number of figures sad and open their voices, one of which was the Chairman of Cyber Indonesia, Habib Husin Alwi Shihab.
In his writings, Husin Shihab highlighted the words that came out of the mouths of a number of perpetrators of the destruction of the Ahmadiyah Mosque. It is known in the video that was circulating, a number of people mentioned the differences between Ahmadiyah. Well, Habib Husin highlighted the word ‘different’ that came out of the mouths of a number of these actors.
Husin Shihab said the perpetrators did not want to understand that Indonesia is a country full of differences. Then, he also said that the perpetrators did not understand or even did not want to understand about Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.
“From their mouths came the word ‘different’, they don’t want to understand that this country is full of differences, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, they don’t understand or even don’t want to understand it,” tweeted Habib Husin Alwi Shihab on Twitter, seized Saturday 4 September 2021.
Furthermore, Husin Alwi Shihab also mentioned the destruction of Iraq and Syria. He said, the two countries were destroyed and killed each other because of differences, because of religious dogma that was allowed to continue.
“Syria & Iraq are destroyed because of religious dogmas like this and are still allowed to run rampant and kill each other because of differences, ” he concluded.
Ahmadiyya mosque vandalized
Earlier on Friday (3/9) the Miftahul Huda mosque belonging to the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Congregation (JAI) Sintang, West Kalimantan was damaged by hundreds of people after Friday prayers.
JAI Spokesperson, Yendra Budiana said, before the vandalism incident, a voice was heard from loudspeakers in another mosque inviting Muslims to leave their homes and perform Friday prayers (at other mosques), and then demolish the Miftahul Huda Mosque belonging to the Indonesian Ahmadiyya Community.
“(Through) loudspeakers, invites Muslim residents to leave their homes and pray Friday (at other mosques), then to join in the demolition of the (Miftahul Huda) mosque,” he said.
Then at around 12.30 or after Friday prayers, more than 100 people then held an apple and started moving to the Miftahul Huda Mosque.
The mosque was damaged by people by destroying the walls and glass, and burning the warehouse building next to it.
“The crowd went into the mosque and (try) to set fire to it but the police were not allowed to. But the masses continue to destroy (the mosque),” said JAI spokesman Yendra Budiana, quoted by CNN.
“After successfully setting fire to the building and destroying the walls of the mosque, the crowd then dispersed,” he said.
