Julen Lopetegui explains why Sevilla didn’t let Jules Kunde go to Chelsea

1NEWS – Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui explained the club’s reasons for not releasing Jules Kunde. The 55-year-old said Chelsea’s offer had not met the club’s expectations of releasing the 22-year-old defender.

Because it wasn’t released by Seville, Jules Kunde reportedly was very angry and these emotions continued until he played for the national team. Now, Sevilla’s management must again persuade and calm the French defender so that he can return to performing well again in the 2021/22 season.

Chelsea Reluctant to Agree to Sevilla’s Request

Chelsea came to Sevilla made an offer to bring Jules Kunde for 50 million euros. According to some reports, Sevilla have agreed on these figures and are just waiting for the player to undergo a medical.

However, Sevilla’s management then reportedly asked for a higher fee so that they released the 22-year-old defender to Chelsea. According to reports from the media ride88 with the Daily Mail, Sevilla asked for a fee of no less than 70 million euros to release the French player.

This request turned out to make the Blues object, especially since the club had agreed to release Kurt Zouma to West Ham United. Until the 2021 summer transfer window closes, the transfer of Jules Kunde has not materialized and Chelsea will have to use existing defenders to navigate the 2021/22 season.

This is a loss, of course, for Thomas Tuchel’s team, because Chelsea’s back line must be improved. Therefore, Chelsea management wants Jules Kunde ahead of the closing of the transfer market at the end of last August.

Thomas Tuchel actually has five defenders who play as pure central defenders, but the quality of these players has not lived up to expectations. Chelsea now have Malang Sarr, Andreas Christensen, Trevoh Chalobah, Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva at centre-back.

Julen Lopetegui Votes

Julen Lopetegui as Sevilla coach said the real reason the club did not release Jules Kunde to Chelsea. Reporting from Diario de Sevilla, Julen Lopetegui admitted that Chelsea’s offer was not enough to make Sevilla release the defender.

Jules Kunde has become an important part of Sevilla in recent years, it’s only natural that the club set a high price for him. Moreover, the French defender is still 22 years old and has a very high investment value if he joins a club as big as Chelsea.

“As a coach, Jules’ stay is a positive thing. He has evolved a lot in the last two years, there’s no doubt about that,” Julen Lopetegui told Diario de Sevilla.

“Kunde ended up staying after the club made the right decision. Based on the evaluation of the value of the possible offer they (Chelsea) have made.”
“We believe he will continue to develop here. The most important thing now is to give him a lot of playing time in the game.” closed Julen Lopetegui.

Jules Kunde So Angry

The 22-year-old defender was furious when he learned that his transfer to Chelsea was cancelled. He didn’t even pick up calls from Julen Lopetegui and Sevilla director of football, Monchi because of this.

This anger apparently still continued when Jules Kounde played in the French national team in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers. Against Bosnia-Herzegovina on 2 September, he received a red card for making a hard tackle on Sead Kolasinac.

This of course must be resolved by Sevilla, because Jules Kunde is one of their important players. If the problem continues, of course, Sevilla and Jules Kunde will both suffer their own losses.
