1NEWS – In the summer transfer yesterday, Romelu Lukaku has completed the process of returning to Chelsea. This return certainly feels special because for Lukaku, Chelsea has always been his dream club. Lukaku even revealed that he only wanted to return to Chelsea if he left Inter.

Chelsea Wins the Hunt

After winning the Champions League, Chelsea were immediately busy shopping for players in the player transfer market. As a result, they got several new fleets, including one of which was a name that should be familiar, Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku returns to Chelsea after several years leaving the London club.

In the summer transfer of 2021 yesterday, Lukaku’s name has indeed become one of the hot properties that are being targeted by giant clubs. Several clubs want him, ranging from Real Madrid, Manchester United, to a number of other giant clubs. However, Chelsea, who carried out the silent operation, ended up being the team that got the striker.

Lukaku’s love remains for Chelsea

Lukaku’s decision to choose Chelsea was certainly not an arbitrary decision, and according to the player, he took it from the bottom of his heart. Despite being dumped in the past, Lukaku admits that Chelsea remains his dream team. Therefore, Lukaku said that last summer, he only wanted to leave Inter to join Chelsea.

The Belgian striker also feels that Chelsea this time is really serious about signing him so he dares to spend deeply. Lukaku did not think that Chelsea would be willing to pay more than 100 million euros for his signature. Therefore, once an offer of that magnitude came, Lukaku did not want to refuse it.

In an interview session with HLN, as quoted by the media ride88 via Sky Sports, Lukaku was asked about his decision to return to Chelsea. He also replied, “I just want to leave” Inter Milan for Chelsea. Kids generally like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United, but for me, everyone knows what Chelsea means to me.”

“If they ask me (to join), why should I say no? I only realized that Chelsea was serious when I saw the 3rd offer. First, they bid 100 million euros, then up 105 million euros, and finally, up again to 110 million euros. After that, I knew that they were really serious.”

“I fell too deep at Manchester United, so I don’t want to look at my career before Inter. So after I trained with Inter, I went to (Simone) Inzaghi’s office. I don’t want to spoil the atmosphere there because honestly, my mind is not on Milan anymore. So I asked him to immediately complete the transfer (to Chelsea).”

From Chelsea to Back Again to Chelsea

Previously, Lukaku himself had also strengthened Chelsea, but at that time, Lukaku was still a young striker who was not widely known. The Belgian player came to Stamford Bridge for the first time at the age of 18, in 2011. Once on loan at West Bromwich Albion, Lukaku finally made a permanent move from Chelsea in 2014.

Who would have thought, it was Everton who then catapulted Lukaku’s name, until in 2017, Manchester United brought him to Old Trafford. Once a mainstay in the era of José Mourinho, Lukaku actually began to be marginalized in the era of Ole Gunnar Solskjær. This is what made the striker choose to move to Inter Milan as of August 8, 2019.

With Inter, Lukaku became an increasingly terrible striker who managed to pack 64 goals from 94 matches he played. One Serie A title for the 2020/2021 season was also presented by the striker. Until finally, Chelsea were so sure of bringing Lukaku back to London, and were even willing to spend a lot of money to make the player’s return smooth.
