Salernitana & David Luiz Agree to Deny Their Transfer Rumors, Call It Fake News – It was recently widely reported that promoted Serie A team Salernitana would seal another surprise transfer to land David Luiz on a free transfer, but both parties are now in agreement to deny these reports.

Salernitana sporting director Angelo Fabiani denied reports that the club was interested in signing veteran defender David Luiz, while the Brazilian also confirmed via his social media that it was a fake transfer report.

The 34-year-old is currently on a free transfer after completing his two-year contract at Arsenal, and the promoted Serie A club are reportedly ready to offer him the chance to return to football and experience Italy.

Now Salernitana’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani has spoken out about the rumours, saying it is fake news as his team have completed their summer transfer business following the arrival of former Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery.

Indeed, this is a surprise transfer from Salernitana who managed to sign the French legend on a free transfer with a one-year contract plus one year extension option, with him earning IDR 34 billion per year.

“I want to thank Franck Ribery’s agent, Davide Lippi, because he made him understand what it means to play for Salernitana,” said Angelo Fabiani.

Asked if there were the prospect of more new faces arriving, he added: “With Ribery, our transfer window is over. We have told each other that we have done quite a lot in the transfer market. Ribery was our last signing, we’ve signed some great players.”

Meanwhile, David Luiz also denied reports of his transfer to Salernitana via his social media posts, saying, “Every day there is a different kind of fake news. It is up to us to choose what we want to believe.”
