“What are the chances of him playing at Old Trafford?”
1NEWS – Cristiano Ronaldo has yet to make his Manchester United debut. The 36-year-old megastar is still focused on the Portugal national team against Azerbaijan in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
CR7 is scheduled to be ready to defend the Red Devils against Newcastle United in the Premier League stage this weekend. Although it is still only a rumor when Ronaldo will make his debut, the news makes Donny van de Beek’s position even more cornered at Old Trafford.
Yes, the presence of CR7 at the Red Devils’ cage will further narrow the Dutch player’s playing time at Old Trafford this season. In fact, Van de Beek only underwent four matches in the 2020/2021 Premier League.
Van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers, admits the arrival of the Portuguese superstar will likely make him worse off. Manchester United signed CR7 sensationally last week with an initial value of 12.85 million pounds after deciding to leave Juventus.
“Cristiano arrived on Friday which we know is bad news for us,” said Albers, quoted by The Sun. “(Paul) Pogba plays on the left, and with the arrival of Cristiano that means another addition in midfield with Pogba moving away from the left.”
“We had conversations with Solskjaer and the board. We took the initiative to find a club and our search ended at Everton. We opened talks with Marcel Brands and Farhad Moshiri,” said Albers.

“On Monday night [sebelum hari batas waktu] we received a call from Solskjaer and the club telling us that a transfer was not possible and he (Van de Beek) had to report himself to training the next morning.”
This situation is very regrettable for Van de Beek’s camp. The Red Devils management and coaching staff did not let the former Ajax player leave, even though he was on loan. In fact, all realize Van de Beek will not have much playing time this season.
Last season alone, Van de Beek made just 36 appearances in all competitions. The majority of all those games were played as substitutes.
He started four games in the FA Cup and three in the League Cup, but failed to make much of an impression.
Albers expects his client to get more playing time, despite competition from Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and others in United’s midfield.
The agent’s request was based on his client having not played a minute with the Red Devils this season. The chances are getting smaller when Pogba is showing his quality, which automatically earns the trust of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“The perspective now is we state that Donny is not a League Cup player, or an FA Cup player, or just playing in European games. Donny went to England to play in the Premier League,” said Albers.
“The way the conversation is this time (with Solskjaer) compared to last summer … things are much clearer now. I have full hope that Donny will get his chance now,” he said.
“Donny worked really hard in the summer. He only had seven days off. The rest of the summer he trains to get fit. He’s really ready,” he concluded.
