After Tinder CEO, Jim Lanzone is now the boss of Yahoo

ACCURATE.CO Yahoo appointed Jim Lanzone, who was originally CEO of Tinder, as their new CEO. The change of leadership occurred after Apollo Global Management bought Yahoo from Verizon CommSunications Inc., as quoted by Reuters on Saturday (11/9/2021).

Apollo Global Management acquired Verizon Media on September 1 last, for $5 billion. Apollo re-named this iconic brand as Yahoo.

In addition to Yahoo, AOIL, TechCrunch, Maker, Ryot and Flurry are also under Verizon Media.

Meanwhile, Match Group Inc, Tinder’s parent company, appointed Renate Nyborg as their new CEO, replacing Lanzone.

Nyborg previously served as general manager of Tinder in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She is the first woman to serve as CEO on Tinder since the company was founded in 2012.

Lanzone replaces Guru Gowrappan, who led Verizon’s media business since 2018. He is now a senior advisor to the securities firm Apollo business.
