PSG's decision to sign Ramos was considered a mistake – Former retainer from Paris Saint-Germain Jerome Rothen criticized the decision from the French giants to bring in Sergio Ramos because of the player’s physical condition which had already deteriorated.

Signed as a player on a free transfer in the summer transfer window by PSG, Sergio Ramos is still not able to strengthen his new team. The player is reportedly still struggling with a calf muscle injury that will keep him out until at least the match against Metz on September 22.

The injury problem that plagued Ramos was actually very visible last season where the player was quite often absent and even ended up being dropped from the Spanish national team because of an injury ahead of the Euros. Even now that he has moved from Real Madrid, it seems that Ramos has not been able to fully get out of his physical condition and the situation is considered unfavorable for PSG by their former player, Jerome Rothen.

Rothen, who now works as a commentator for RMC Sport, feels his former team’s decision to sign Ramos was a bad idea. According to the former winger, the injury problem experienced by the Spanish defender will be very difficult to overcome considering the age of the former Sevilla defender who has reached 35 years.

With the age and type of injury, Ramos is considered to be difficult to return to his best level because he will often feel pain in his calf. Rothen also thinks that even the influence and leadership of the Spanish defender will not be enough to help PSG at this time because the French team also already has leaders at the back like Marquinhos or Presnel Kimpembe.

It will not be enough for Rothen if Ramos will only be a player who contributes more to motivate his team-mates it will not be enough. The player must be able to make a real contribution on the pitch by playing and helping his club.

If you return to struggling with injury, it is undeniable that it will be very difficult for PSG to rely on Ramos. But until now the hope of Les Parisiens is of course for the former Madrid captain to recover soon and help Mauricio Pochettino’s side on the pitch.
