Crazybola.com – AS Roma legend Francesco Torri supports AC Milan senior bomber Zlatan Ibrahimovic to break the record for oldest goalscorer in the Champions League.
Until now, the record for the oldest goalscorer in the Champions League is still held by AS Roma legend, Francesco Totti who did so at the age of 38 years and 59 days. Breaking the record seems very difficult for any player, but the opportunity will come for AC Milan bomber, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Ibrahimovic himself is now 39 years old and will even turn 40 in October. The Swede is very likely to break this record considering that Milan have finally returned to the Champions League this season and he has the opportunity to do so in the middle of this week when the Rossoneri take on Liverpool at Anfield.
Despite only recovering from an injury that has kept him out for about four months, Ibrahimovic still proved his goalscoring ability is still intact as the forward managed to contribute one of Milan’s two goals in Milan’s win over Lazio last weekend. The Swedish national team player also looked to be able to create several other opportunities which showed he was still maintaining his quality as a striker at a young age.
Totti himself, whose record is threatened, is happy and supports Ibrahimovic so he can do it immediately. Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former creative attacking midfielder even believed that the Milan striker would definitely succeed in breaking the record for the oldest goalscorer in the Champions League.
According to Totti, records are made to be broken so he would be very happy if someone could break his record especially if it was done by a great player like Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker is said to still be able to give a lot on the field because he is still in good condition although he still has to maintain his condition even better.
It will be interesting to see if Ibrahimovic will be able to break that record as the Champions League is not an easy competition to face. However, the Swedish striker is always eager to show his ability and answer the challenges.
