Persija Jakarta striker, Marko Simic, was impressed with the PSIS Semarang game in the BRI Liga 1 2021/2022. According to Simic, PSIS succeeded in making a surprise by balancing Persija with its young players.
PSIS Semarang managed to balance Persija Jakarta with a score of 2-2 in the second week of the BRI Liga 1 2021/2022 match which was held at the Indomilk Arena Stadium, Sunday (12/9/2021). In fact, in this match Persija Jakarta had a two-goal lead.
Marko Simic was amazed by the quality of PSIS, which was mostly reinforced by local players. In fact, there are six players under the age of 23 who are believed to be starters.
Call it Fredyan Wahyu, Wahyu Prasetyo, Primary Arhan, Alfeandra Dewangga, Eka Febri, and Reza Irfana. According to Simic, PSIS is a good team that is difficult to play against.
“Obviously we played against a team full of young players. We also previously had the same problem when playing against PSM Makassar in the Menpora Cup which was full of local players,” said Simic.
“Their performances in the match were very good even though they were not reinforced by several core players. I was surprised they were able to perform well. PSIS is a good team, a tough opponent and it’s not easy against them,” said Simic.
The addition of one point makes Persija Jakarta now in 11th place in the BRI Liga 1 2021/2022 standings. Meanwhile, PSIS Semarang is currently in third place with four points.
Marko Simic also did not expect Persija Jakarta, which is inhabited by many quality players, to lose focus in the final 35 minutes of the match. This became a source of problems where PSIS Semarang was able to score two equalizing goals through a free kick scheme.
“I’m angry because we have a lot of experienced players. I didn’t think we were two goals ahead but couldn’t control the last 35 minutes of the game,” Simic said.
“We couldn’t control possession in the second half. We should have picked up the three points, unfortunately we conceded two goals from the same situation,” said Simic.
BRI Liga 1 statistics noted, Persija Jakarta was indeed superior in possession of the ball with a total of 62 percent. However, Persija proved less effective in launching attacks.
Persija fired three shots on goal from five attempts. Meanwhile, PSIS Semarang with 38 percent possession of the ball was able to release four accurate shots from six trials.
This draw is Persija Jakarta’s second in the BRI Liga 1 2021/2022. Thus, the club nicknamed the Kemayoran Tigers collected two points from two matches.
