Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno admitted that he was often asked when tourism opened. He said foreign tourists are difficult to come to Indonesia, because there are a series of strict rules that must be obeyed.
The strict rules, including foreign tourists must first self-quarantine at the hotel for 8 days, undergo a PCR swab test for Covid-19 and so on.
“I am being chased every day when it opens. We want to socialize both to all business actors in the tourism sector and the creative economy, first we make sure that we are ready. Once ready, we will definitely open tourism with all strict health protocols,” said Sandiaga in Global Tourism Forum event, Tuesday (14/9/2021) quoted from Suara.com.
Sandiaga’s preparedness is in accordance with President Jokowi’s directive which requires a minimum of 70 percent of actors and officers in the tourism sector to have been vaccinated, before tourism is allowed to reopen.
“This is what is being prepared, with discipline towards health protocols. So the single narrative is vaccination and health protocols,” added Sandiaga.
