Persib Bandung managed to get through the first two games of Liga 1 2021-2022 with a clean sweep of victory. The club named Maung Bandung won three points each over Barito Putera (1-0) and Persita Tangerang (2-1).

The two positive results are undeniably a valuable asset for Persib in increasing players’ morale and confidence in navigating the competition this season. Persib vice-captain Victor Igbonefo agrees.

Igbonefo admits that the two wins have increased the players’ confidence. The Nigerian-blooded player hopes that Persib’s positive trend can continue.

“My friends and I are very happy and satisfied because we got three points from two games. Of course, these two wins add to our confidence,” Igbonefo told reporters on Monday (13/9/2021).

Igbonefo said, before the competition started, the players were determined to bring Persib to win the title.

According to him, two consecutive wins at the start of the season became valuable capital to realize this target.

However, Igbonefo also hopes that Persib can win the title with an unbeaten record.

Therefore, the players must always focus on being able to bring Persib to achieve positive results in every match they play.

“Before the league started we had a target to win every game. So everyone has to focus, I hope we will get another win in the next match,” said Igbonefo.

Furthermore, Persib will face the strong team Bali United, which is also a candidate for the 2021-2022 League 1 champion. Igbonefo admits, Bali United is a tough opponent and hard to beat.

Moreover, every team that faces Persib always has more motivation to beat one of the most successful teams in Indonesia.

Only, Igbonefo emphasized, Persib’s goal in coming to this season’s competition was to win in every match that was played. Therefore, all players will strive to realize this goal.

“Obviously it’s not an easy match because any team that Persib faces always has more motivation. However, we came here to win,” said Igbonefo.

For Persib, if they can beat Bali United in their third match, they will match the achievements made at the beginning of the 2020 season.

At that time, Maung Bandung managed to get through the first three matches with a clean sweep of victory. Persib got three points each over Persela Lamongan (3-0), Arema FC (2-1), and PS Sleman (2-1).
