“Criticism continues to come to the Matador national team player”

1NEWS – Until now the Spaniard has not featured for Les Parisiens

Despite yet to make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain, Sergio Ramos has come under fire this week following his signing from Real Madrid.

Due to injury, Ramos is unlikely to play his first match with the French club to date, at the earliest, September 22 when Lionel Messi et al play against Metz.

Former PSG player and current RMC Sport commentator Jerome Rothen is one of those who have criticized the former Real Madrid centre-back.

“Containing a calf muscle injury towards the end of your career is really bad news because it’s an injury you rarely fully recover from,” said Rothen.

“Once a player improves his rhythm, either during matches or in training with PSG, he may not be able to continue.”

“And when a player reaches a certain age, he needs to play a number of games to get back into shape. Can he get back to the top level if he has constant pain in his calf? I have very doubts about that.”

Rothen, who has 13 caps for France, also explained that Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe had a bigger impact in the dressing room than Ramos.

“When he arrived, everyone said that Sergio Ramos would change the mentality in the dressing room.”

“But today, Marquinhos and Kimpembe are way above Ramos in terms of influence. His motivational skills are not enough at the moment at PSG. He needs to bring more to the team on the pitch.”

“If he’s not capable of that, there’s no point in having him. That’s why I feel that signing Ramos is a bad idea for PSG.”
