“Fortunately, in Europe. Hard to imagine if it was India and Inspector Ladu Singh who caught it.”
1NEWS – Despite his status as a striker for the national team, Arnaut Danjuma is not a popular Dutch forward like Memphis Depay, Steven Bergwijn, Donyell Malen, Steven Berghuis or Wout Weghorst. However, the Villarreal striker has experience that other De Oranje colleagues do not experience.
Born in Lagos to Nigerian-Dutch parents, the owner’s full name Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld started his junior career from TOP Oss before joining PSV Eindhoven Academy.
Unfortunately, due to intense competition at PSV, Danjuma only had the opportunity to play at Jong PSV before joining NEC Nijmegen. After playing 40 times and producing 12 goals, Danjuma moved to Belgium to defend Club Brugge.
Thanks to a stable performance at Brugge, Danjuma had the opportunity to go to England. On 1 August 2019, he joined Bournemouth for £13.7 million and signed a long-term contract.
He made his debut for Bournemouth as a substitute in a League Cup match against Burton Albion on 25 September 2019. He scored his first goal for Bournemouth in a 3–2 win against Blackburn Rovers on 12 September 2020.
Then, after contributing 10 goals in a month, Danjuma was awarded the Player of the Month award for April 2021. Furthermore, on 21 May 2021, Danjuma was awarded the Bournemouth Player of the Year award after receiving 40% of the support vote, beating Asmir Begovic who had 38% of the vote. .

Despite his success in England, Danjuma instead moved to Spain on 19 August 2021. He joined Villarreal in a transfer believed to be in the range of 25 million euros (Rp 420 billion) and signed a contract until 30 June 2026.

Uniquely, during his two seasons at Bournemouth, Danjuma had a terrible experience. On March 16, 2021, he was arrested by the police on charges of attempted murder.
“Suddenly a police car stopped and two officers got out. They said: Put your hands on the roof of the car’. What have I done? But, they shouted: ‘Shut your mouth’. They shouted loudly several times,” said Danjuma several times last time, reported by Ghana Soccernet.
“I put my hand on the roof of the car and asked again what I had done. They replied that they were waiting for help,” added the attacker who operates on the wing.
Apparently, Danjuma became the victim of a wrong arrest. Officers were actually looking for a man who had just escaped after stabbing another person. Incidentally, the suspect ran towards Danjuma’s oncoming vehicle. The color of the car is the same.
“It was embarrassing. People were passing by and taking pictures. I got angry and said some things I shouldn’t have said. But, I was very frustrated. And, finally, the officer said: ‘You are not the person we were looking for, you can go’. Then they just left,” said Danjuma.
A day later, a local police representative came to Danjuma and apologized. Danjuma forgives. However, he could not file a lawsuit for the officer’s mistake. He could only curse in his heart. Unlucky!
