1NEWS – Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Charles married on 9 April 2005 ago. Many did not know that they were in danger of failing to get married that day because Camilla was sick.

According to a Vanity Fair report, on her wedding day Camilla suffered from bouts of severe sinusitis that had her family and friends worry that she wasn’t well enough to attend the wedding ceremony.

Lucia Santa Cruz, the woman who introduced Camilla to each other, said her best friend was very sick. “He was really sick, stressed. He couldn’t get out of bed,” she said.

In keeping with British royal wedding tradition, Camilla stayed apart from Prince Charles the night before their wedding. Camilla lives with her sister Annabel Eliot, and daughter Laura at Clarence House, which is where Charles and Camilla live in London. Reportedly, it was Annabel who dressed Camilla on her wedding day. He was also the one who encouraged Camilla to have the strength to get married that day. “Okay, it is okay. I will do it for you. I’ll put your wedding dress on,” Annabel told Camilla as reported by Vanity Fair.

On her wedding day, even though she was sick, Camilla looked very radiant. It didn’t look like he was in serious pain.

Camilla Parker Bowles and Prince Charles held a civil wedding ceremony at the Windsor Guildhall, followed by a wedding blessing at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Anne, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Queen Elizabeth 11 and the late Prince Philip all attended the wedding. Camilla’s children, Tom Parker Bowles, and Laura Parker Bowles were also in attendance.
