“Usually, clubs that play at home use the main jersey. But Bayern is different.”

1NEWS – There is a unique view when Bayern Munich host VfL Bochum at the Allianz Arena, Saturday (18/9/2021) night WIB. Despite playing at home, FC Hollywood actually used the third uniform when humiliating their opponent seven goals without reply.

The reigning Bundesliga champions continued their winning streak upon the arrival of Bochum. Bayern’s goal feast began with four goals scored throughout the first half. It went through Leroy Sane, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, and killed Vasilis Lampropoulos.

Then, three additional goals were created by Bayern in the second half through the actions of Robert Lewandowski, Kimmich again, and Eric Choupo-Moting.

These results make the Bavarian club unbeaten in their first five matches in the 2021/2022 Bundesliga. They picked up four wins from FC Koln, Hertha Berlin, RB Leipzig, and Bochum. The only draw was achieved against Borussia Moenchengladbach in the first week.

The facts also show that since 2016/2017, Bayern have recorded three wins by scoring over seven goals at the start of the season. In 2016/2017, they slaughtered Hamburg SV eight goals. The same amount was also inscribed against Schalke 04 last season.

However, it wasn’t just the big wins that caught the attention of the fans. The uniform worn by Julian Nagelsmann’s troops against Bochum also went viral.

Why do they wear the third jersey during home games in the Bundesliga? As it turned out, the jersey, inspired by the mountains in the state of Bavaria, was purposely used to celebrate one of the area’s most iconic annual events, the Oktoberfest.

Known locally as d’Wiesn, Oktoberfest has become a central part of local culture and has been celebrated for more than 200 years. The event, which involves a carnival, drinking party, music, and a big meal, is regularly held in October every year.

Unfortunately, the festival was unable to take place for the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The plan is that Oktoberfest will be rolled out again in 2022.

So, to make up for it, more modest celebrations will be held across the state. In addition, as a tribute to the iconic festival, Bayern launched a special jersey, which came into use against Bochum.

The jersey has a dark green base with gold accents. The goal is to create a connection with the traditional Oktoberfest costumes. There is also an image of an alpine edelweiss flower embroidered on the collar. While three Adidas stripes on the shoulders, and the sponsor’s logo complete this jersey.

Worn against Bochum, the players looked very dashing. Evidently, they are able to dominate all sectors of the field to create goal after goal.
