1NEWS – The Executive Director of the Indonesian Survey Flow (ASI) Ali Rifan highlighted the opportunity for PDIP cadres and Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo to run in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Ali said Ganjar Pranowo could have followed in the footsteps of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), when he was first nominated in the 2014 presidential election.
“The leadership styles of Ganjar and Pak Jokowi are similar, both like blusukan. However, both are electorally different,” said Ali Rifan to 1NEWS, Sunday (3/10).
According to Ali, the obstacle for Ganjar to run in the 2024 presidential election is that his electability level is not yet significant.
This is different from Jokowi whose electability is quite high ahead of the 2014 presidential election.
Rifan said it could happen, because at that time there was no potential figure to fight Jokowi in 2014.
“Right now, Ganjar has quite a lot of potential rivals. So, even though his leadership style is the same, Ganjar is still far away from the 2024 presidential election,” he explained.
In terms of momentum, Ali said that Ganjar and Jokowi had quite clear differences.
According to him, when Jokowi ran for the 2014 presidential election, the PDIP did not yet have a potential figure as a buffer.
Meanwhile, PDIP now has an opponent comparable to Ganjar Pranowo, namely DPR Speaker Puan Maharani.
“In terms of track records, Puan and Ganjar are almost the same. Both have been in the DPR and the numbers are competitive,” he added.
If the election is postponed, Ganjar Pranowo is considered to be profitable
