1NEWS, Semen Padang stated that it was ready to fight and fight in Group A of the Indonesian League 2 2021-2022. Kabau Sirah – the nickname of Semen Padang – will compete with other Sumatran clubs, namely Sriwijaya FC, PSMS Medan, PSPS Riau, AA Tiga Naga and Muba Babel FC.
Semen Padang coach, Weliansyah said that his team’s condition was stable and ready to fight in League 2 this season. According to him, his team has shown an increase in quality after undergoing several test matches.
“Physically, mentally and in preparation, we are ready. From previous trials, the team also continues to show improvement. If it is presented more than 100 percent we are ready,” said Weliansyah.
“Please pray for and support from the whole community, supporters and media crew for us in the struggle later,” he added.
Finals Every Game
The division of the League 2 group this season, said Welliansyah, is like a final in every match. Each team has only 10 games to decide their fate to the next phase, stay in Liga 2 and relegation.
Only the top two teams in each League 2 group qualify for the quarter-finals.
“Every match is a final for us and we must be ready to win,” said Welliansyah.
Semen Padang will have their first Group A League 2 match against PSPS Pekanbaru on October 5 tomorrow. The two teams met in a test match earlier last month and Kabau Sirah won 3-2.
Semen Padang management targets promotion to Liga 1 next year. Therefore, Weliansyah certainly can’t sleep well because Liga 2 this season has many rivals from legendary clubs to new ‘sultan’ clubs.
