“If you can return to the Bundesliga next season, that record will be even more meaningful”

1NEWS – Schalke’s striker Simon Terodde has now equaled the all-time goalscoring record in Bundesliga 2 with 153 goals.

The 33-year-old has been in excellent form this season since joining the Royal Blues from Hamburg on a free transfer and has now scored 11 goals in nine appearances in the 2021/2022 season.

The new history was created when Dimitrios Grammozis’ team beat Ingolstadt on Sunday (3/10/2021). Goals from Marius Bülter and Can Aydin gave Die Königsblauen the lead before Terodde sealed the three points for Schalke in the 77th minute thanks to a late strike.

In doing so, he equaled former Hannover striker Dieter Schatzschneider’s goal tally of 153 goals in Bundesliga 2, the best record that has existed since 1990.

Terodde scored 24 goals for Hamburg last season, as well as 29 for Cologne (2018/2019), 25 for VfB Stuttgart (2016/2017), 41 for Bochum (2014-2016) and 23 for Union Berlin (2011-2014).
