1NEWS – The DKI Warkop Institute as the owner of Intellectual Property Rights or the IPR of the legendary comedy group Warkop DKI has firmly warned Warkop to change its name. Because the parody group is considered to have committed copyright infringement.


“Regarding the protection of trademark rights, the DKI Warkop Institute through a press release today warned that Warkopi would no longer use the name Warkop and change the name of the group that is currently being used,” said Satrio Sarwo Trengginas, the youngest son of the late Dono Warkop, in a virtual press conference. , Wednesday (6/10/2021)

The DKI Warkop Institute gave Warkop one week to change the name of the group. “Since the date of this press release,” he said.


The DKI Warkop Institute assessed that Warkop was deliberately made similar to the comedy group Warkop DKI. It can be seen from its name.

“Moreover, according to the DKI Warkop Institute, the use of the name Warkop is not without purpose, where the name is made similar to the name ‘Warkop DKI’,” said Satrio.

Satrio also emphasized that the DKI Warkop Institute has the right to make civil or criminal reports. However, so far they have not found a way to get there.


“In addition to information, any use of a brand or name that is the same or similar to a registered mark without the permission of the owner of the right to the mark has legal consequences,” said Satrio.


“The DKI Warkop Institute has the right to file a civil lawsuit or a criminal report,” he said.

Recently, the public was excited about the appearance of three young men who looked like members of Warkop DKI, namely Dono, Kasino, and Indro. They named their group as Warkopi.


The emergence of Warkopi then caused problems. This is because they have not yet obtained a permit from the DKI Warkop Institute to appear in commercial activities.
