Asnawi Mangkualam has just recovered from his injury. The 22-year-old defender is desperate to help the Indonesian national team beat Chinese Taipei.
The Indonesian national team will face Chinese Taipei in the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification Play-off on 7 and 11 October 2021 in Buriram, Thailand.
The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, brought 29 players, including Asnawi Mangkualam, against Chinese Taipei.
Asnawi Mangkualam left for Thailand separately from the Indonesian national team. The former PSM Makassar player departed from South Korea and joined Buriram.
Asnawi Mangkualam along with two other foreign players, namely Syahrian Abimanyu and Ryuji Utomo, participated in training with the Indonesian National Team at the Chang Training Ground, Buriram, Monday (4/10/2021).
“I am very happy and enjoy training with the Indonesian national team players. I am in good condition and ready to fight Chinese Taipei,” explained Asnawi Mangkualam quoted from the PSSI page, Tuesday (5/10/2021).
“God willing, against Chinese Taipei, we can do what the coach wants and get the best result. I hope we can win,” he said.
Asnawi Mangkualam was struggling with a hamstring injury in September 2021 while defending Ansan Greeners in the K League 2 or the second tier of the South Korean League.
The player who plays as a right wing defender must rest for approximately two weeks. However, Asnawi Mangkualam has returned to play for Ansan Greeners on October 2, 2021.
A call-up to the Indonesian national team will likely make Asnawi Mangkualam end his season early. The player who was born in Makassar, South Sulawesi is in danger of not being able to strengthen Ansan Greeners in the last four matches in K League 2.
