Joe & Serena
Joe and Serena’s proposal was preceded by another visit from Kendall, Joe’s ex.
“When I first came here, I knew you were going to be here. And part of me thought it would be really easy to come here and have a closure talk, and to work toward finding a new relationship and hopefully love, but that’s not what happened,” Kendall told Joe during the finale. “I came down on this beach and was completely, like, surprised by how it made me feel and how overwhelming it was. And I think ultimately, what ended up happening is, I ended up coming here to fully let you go. … I’m really excited for you and Serena, and I felt like I couldn’t leave the speech without fully, like, expressing that to you.”
After her departure for the second time, Joe spoke to Serena, while also dropping to one knee.
“My ex did just show up on the beach. … If anything, it just made me more confident in how much that I do love you,” he told her. “We have definitely had our speed bumps along the way, but the way you’ve handled it shows me what a kind of loving person you are. I’m really into you — your smile, your charm, your looks, this whole thing. A Toronto accent. It’s just really everything about it happened fast, faster than I thought. But at this point, I don’t see myself not wanting to wake up with you by my side. When I think about forever, you know, that’s scary. And I think about it with you and I don’t know, it feels right. … Serena Pitt, I love you very much. Will you marry me?”
Of course, Serena said yes.
“The two most logical people on this beach just followed their hearts and got engaged!” she said. “I love you!”
Maurissa & Riley
While Maurissa was concerned about Riley getting cold feet about their relationship, he proved her wrong.
“My life has been full of letdowns and broken promises until I met you. You showed me what a real man is. You showed me literally everything I’ve dreamed of my whole life. You showed me that fairytales do exist, even though our fairy tale includes whipped cream and toes,” Maurissa said. “I really never believed in love at first sight, and you showed me that it truly is possible. I knew I loved you the first night that I met you. You were adventurous, passionate. I knew that I was going to do whatever I needed to to make you mine, and today I know that I wanna make you mine forever.”
She added: “You know that I like to run when things get tough, but the more that I run, the more that you stay and then the more I fall in love with you.”
Riley then proposed, saying, “I’ve gone from city to city, from state to state and now from country to country in search of something very special.”
“The difficult thing about what I’m searching for is that it’s not something that you can always see. It’s the feeling of my heart beating fast, it’s the feeling of butterflies in my stomach, it’s the feeling of goosebumps on my arms, and I know that that feeling is love. See, Maurissa, I love you, and I’ve loved you since our very first date, but I just need to be sure.”
Mari & Kenny
Kenny’s proposal to Mari was quite romantic.
“Mari, you know as soon as you came down the stairs and through the gates of Paradise, I honestly was blown away about how beautiful you were. You know, I don’t if it was love at first sight, but it was definitely something — something I’ve never felt before,” Kenny said. “At the end of the day, we did go through a lot of real-life relationship stuff, and we were tested like no other couple in Paradise, I think. … I’m shaking. Mari, I am f***ing so in love with you. And I literally, like, I can’t see my life without you. You’re such an amazing woman that you’ve changed my whole outlook on life. … Mari Pepin, will you marry me?”
As of this writing, all three couples are still engaged.
Earlier in the season, there was a bit of drama with one couple.
