Apparently, acts of violence committed by students in Yogyakarta have existed since the 1980s and 1990s. Even at that time there were 2 popular violent gangs, namely QZRUH and JOXZIN. QZRUH stands for Q-ta Zuka Ribut For Brawl (or Entertainment). They usually act in northern Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, JOXZIN has several abbreviations, such as Joxo Zinthing and Jogja Zindikat. This gang “controls” the Malioboro area to the southern part of Yogyakarta.
