PSSI ensures that players playing abroad such as Egy Maulana Vikri, Witan Sulaeman and Asnawi Mangkualam are allowed by their clubs to defend the U-23 Indonesian National Team at the 2021 SEA Games, Vietnam, next May.
The U-23 Indonesian national team is currently focusing on holding a training camp in South Korea. This training camp is a series of preparations for the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam in May.
For this training camp, Shin Tae-yong as the coach of the U-23 Indonesian National Team called 29 players.
However, of the 29 players, not all of them joined the training camp in South Korea. Even one name, Ramai Rumakiek, is confirmed to have been removed from the player list because he never came.
Not only that, this training camp has not been attended by players playing abroad such as Saddil Ramdani, Elkan Baggott, Asnawi Mangkualam Bahar, Egy Maulana Vikri, Witan Sulaeman and Pratama Arhan.
For two players, namely Saddil Ramdani (Sabah FC) and Elkan Baggott (Ipswich Town) have given a statement that they will not let go of their players.
This is because the 2021 SEA Games event is not included in the FIFA calendar, so the club has the right to refuse to release its players.
However, Shin Tae-yong received good news for the other players. Namely Egy Maulana Vikri, Witan Sulaeman, and Asnawi were confirmed to participate because they received permission from their club.
“For Egy, Witan and Asnawi they were released by the team,” said PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi to INDOSPORT.
However, when asked whether these three players will join in South Korea or in Indonesia, Yunus is still communicating with these players.
“For this, we are still communicating with the player,” concluded Yunus Nusi.
As is known, the U-23 Indonesian National Team will be in South Korea until April 29. Later they will return to Indonesia before leaving for Vietnam.
Shin Tae-yong’s wish is very clear
The coach of the U-23 Indonesian National Team, Shin Tae-yong, has raised his voice regarding one of the potential opponents of the Garuda Muda squad at the 2021 SEA Games, namely the host Vietnam.
The U-23 Indonesian national team will indeed meet Vietnam at the 2021 SEA Games. Both of them are members of group A and will compete with the Philippines, Myanmar and Timor Leste.
The Indonesian U-23 national team will face Vietnam in the first match. This match is allegedly not going to be easy for the U-23 Indonesian National Team.
In the 2019 edition of the SEA Games, the two teams met in the final. At that time, the Garuda Muda squad lost 0-3 so they failed to get a gold medal.
In response to this, Shin Tae-yong as a coach certainly wants to win. Moreover, the feud between Indonesia and Vietnam is often exciting.
“The goal, of course, is to win. What else is needed,” said Shin Tae-yong as reported by South Korean media, Chosun, Monday (18/04/22).
Shin Tae-yong’s optimism for victory over Vietnam is not without reason. Because he assessed that the Indonesian national team had increased during the training camp in South Korea.
“The players learned and developed a lot while training in South Korea. I try to bring out the players’ abilities,” said Shin Tae-yong.
The former South Korean national team coach at the 2018 World Cup also wanted to bring Marc Klok et al. achievement in the SEA Games this time.
Indonesian U-23 National Team Still Have Stock of 4 Great Wingers
Here are four great wingers who can replace Saddil Ramdani and Ramai Rumakiek to strengthen the U-23 Indonesian National Team at the 2021 SEA Games.
As is known, the coach of the U-23 Indonesian National Team, Shin Tae-yong, has officially crossed out Saddil Ramdani and Ramai Rumakiek from participating in the SEA Games in Vietnam in May 2022.
Previously, Shin Tae-yong had summoned the two players for the projected 2021 SEA Games training center (TC) in Jakarta and South Korea.
However, Saddil Ramdani had to bury his dream of returning to the Garuda uniform because he was banned from the Malaysian Super League club, Sabah FC.
Not without reason, Sabah FC did this because they still needed Saddil’s strength in the early matches of the 2022 season. Moreover, the SEA Games event was also not included in the FIFA calendar.
