Oscar winning senior actress, Susan Sarandon reported has officially signed a contract to co-star with Xolo Mariduea in the live-action film Blue Beetle owned by Warner Bros. Pictures. Actress Thelma & Louise will play the villainous Victoria Kord in the upcoming DC film. He will replace Sharon Stone, who was previously rumored to be joining the project some time ago.

If Sarandon will play the main villain in the film, then Raoul Max Trujillo (Mayans MC) will play the secondary villain, Carapax the Indestructible Man. Details and details about the two villain characters are still limited but we can expect that they will have an important relationship with each other. Other cast members who have joined the project are Harvey Guillén, Belissa Escobedo, and Brazilian star Bruna Marquezine.

Project Blue Beetle will be Sarandon’s first involvement in the superhero film business. Beyond a few appearances in hit films, this Oscar winner has been a consistent presence on the small screen. In television, Sarandon earned an Emmy nomination for the series Feud after playing Bette Davis alongside Jessica Lange who played Joan Crawford.

Film project development Blue Beetle started in 2018 before being officially announced in February 2021 and, as previously stated, it was originally set to join the DC lineup on HBO Max. The film will tell the story of a Mexican-American teenager named Jaime Reyes, played by Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) after he gains superpowers when he touches an alien armor.

Blue Beetle originally created for Fox Comics in 1939 by Charles Wojtkowski. Fox Comics then went out of business in the 80s. DC then bought the rights to the character and then introduced him to their comic world. In the comics, the story is about a Mexican-American teenager named Jaime Reyes. He is the third character to become a Blue Beetle after Dan Garret and Ted Kord. This character first appeared in Infinity Crisis #5 2006, it was followed by its own monthly series which debuted in May 2006 under the title #1 Blue Beetle.

The story begins when Jaime Reyes finds a Blue Beetle carving/artifact on his way home from school with his two friends Paco and Brenda. Reyes takes the object home, and at night the beetle artifact comes to life, and attaches to the teenager’s spine, and this allows him to have a space suit/armor that can be modified to increase his speed and strength, as well as to create weapons, wings. , and shield.

Victoria Kord will be an original character created especially for the film, but her last name is of course very familiar to comic book fans. Those familiar with Blue Beetle comic material know that the man who wore alien armor before Jaime Reyes was Ted Kord, a genius scientist and occasional member of the Justice League. It’s unclear whether the film will include Ted, or swap his gender with Victoria, but Kord’s inclusion should not be overlooked. Whereas in the comics, Carapax the Indestructible Man uses the “powerful” technology invented by Jarvis Kord and his nephew Ted.
