“Trouble at Fenerbahce opened Ozil’s exit more quickly.”

1NEWS – In recent years Mesut Ozil’s career has declined. Now, the German player of Turkish descent is only strengthening Fenerbache. And even then it is rarely played.

Ozil joined Fenerbahce on a free transfer after Arsenal agreed to terminate his contract in January 2021. That ended his eight-year stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The creative midfielder has signed a contract until 2024. However, since last month, Ozil was suspended from Ismail Kartal’s squad for reasons that are not yet known for certain. Now, his future at the club based at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium is increasingly uncertain.

In the midst of the chaos, Ozil was attracted by the Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Los Angeles FC. The news came after Ozil’s friend who is a former Turkey national team player, Ridvan Dilmen, said LAFC was interested in bringing Ozil to the United States (US).

“I meet with Mesut every two weeks. I know of interest from Los Angeles. I’ve seen written messages about this,” the former Fenerbahce winger told TRT.

Ozil got off to a not-so-good start at Fenerbahce following his arrival midway through the 2020/2021 season. Ozil failed to score in his first 11 appearances.

The 33-year-old player actually had time to rediscover his best form before being suspended. He recorded nine goals and two assists in 26 games in all competitions. However, Ozil had to receive sanctions after falling out with Fenerbahce officials, one of which was with the club president, Ali Koc.

Is Ozil interested in playing in MLS? Apparently, the agent of the former Arsenal star, Erkut Sogut, indicated that his client wanted to stay at Fenerbahce. He also ensured that Ozil would return to the team as soon as the off-field issues were resolved.

“Mesut is not going anywhere, nor is he planning to go anywhere. He still has two years until the end of his contract. He will continue here as a Fenerbahce player,” said Sogut.
