Chelsea Worrying About Returning Without Rudiger Against West Ham

Chelsea could host West Ham United this weekend without Antonio Rudiger through injury.

Crazy Ball – Rudiger was not present in the Blues squad when they hosted Arsenal on Thursday (21/4) early this morning, due to a groin problem.

In his absence, Thomas Tuchel’s squad were humiliated by The Gunners 4-2, and the German is not sure Rudiger will be back in time before this weekend. Thus expressed Evening Standard.

“The situation is not good, I don’t even think he can play in the game against West Ham,” said the 48-year-old Chelsea coach.

However, Tuchel emphasized that his team’s humiliating defeat in the match against Arsenal did not occur because of the absence of Rudiger.

“We conceded seven goals with Toni (Rudiger) in the matches against Brentford and Real Madrid, so this defeat was not due to individual players,” said Tuchel.

“This is due to the poor performance of the team in defense. You have to play the tactics right, which I doubt if it’s done right, and you need the right selection of players – I doubt I’ve done this right either,” added the Chelsea coach who came from PSG.

“It was a fight for the players. They get sky-high praise when they do it like they did in the last three games, so they have to face the fact that it’s impossible to win a game like this if you make so many mistakes.

“I didn’t see it in other games, but I see it now in a few games in a row and it has to be stopped to prevent deeper problems,” he added.

The surprising defeat at home did not make Chelsea leave its position in third. But the West London side are just five points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur – who are in fourth place.

The Blues indeed seem difficult to catch Liverpool who are one rank in front of him, because their points are quite far apart, 14 points. However, Tuchel is determined to bring his team to finish in the top four this season, and will still compete in the Champions League next season.
