“Is this a signal that Shin Tae-yong already has the No.9 position?”

1NEWS – Muhamad Ridwan, Irfan Jauhari, and Ronaldo Kwateh showed their best abilities when the U-23 Indonesian national team underwent its first trial in TC in South Korea. Facing Andong University at Haemaji Football Field, Thursday (21/4/2022), when the pure striker scored.

After a few days of training, the U-23 national team began to schedule a test match. Before fighting two K.League clubs, Pohang Steelers (23/4/2022) and Daejon Hana Citizen (27/4/2022), Garuda Muda first met the university team.

Against Andong University, Indonesia performed quite well. In the first half, Shin Tae-yong’s squad won 2-1. Two Indonesian goals scored by Irfan Jaya in the seventh minute and Ridwan (21) through a penalty kick. In the second half, the U-23 national team added two goals through Ronaldo (88) and Jauhari (90) to complete the final score of 4-2.

Apart from the back line that had to be conceded two goals, the success of Ridwan, Ronaldo, and Jauhari in scoring goals deserves two thumbs up. Moreover, Jauhari and Ridwan entered the starting line-up.

If you are able to maintain your performance by scoring goals in the next two test matches, the potential for Ridwan, Ronaldo, or Jauhari to become the main attackers for the U-23 national team lies very wide in front of your eyes. The reason is, the homework for Indonesian coaches is to find players in the No.9 position.

Since Tae-yong has been the coach of the PSSI fostered squad, a number of attackers have been given the opportunity. Names such as Bagus Kahfi, Taufik Hidayat, Ezra Walian, Hanis Sagara, Kushedya Hari Yudo, Muhamad Rafli, Dedik Setiawan, to Ilija Spasojevic have been given the opportunity. However, all were disappointing.

Shin Tae-yong’s efforts to get sharp attackers such as Peri Sandria, Rochi Putiray, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, Ilham Jaya Kesuma, Bambang Pamungkas, or Gendut Doni never went out.

The proof, in TC in Ginseng Country, Shin Tae-yong brought four pure attackers. They are Sagara, Jauhari, Ronaldo, and Ridwan. Sagara previously also appeared in the 2020 AFF Cup. Meanwhile, Ronaldo was a member of the U-19 national team who had made his senior debut against Timor Leste.

For Jauhari, the former Bali United striker last season played for Persis Solo in Liga 2 before being loaned to Persija Jakarta in Liga 1. Uniquely, during the second round, Jauhari performed well. From 15 matches, the young man who was born in Ngawi, January 31, 2001, scored five goals.

Meanwhile, Ridwan, last season strengthened Persik Kediri. Even though he only scored one goal against Persita Tenggerang, his stature, 183 cm, attracted Shin Tae-yong. Contemporary players Egy Maulana Vikri and Witan Sulaeman at SKO Ragunan could be the solution for the ball against Garuda Muda.

“I continue to receive reports from Shin Tae-yong and Indra Sjafri regarding player development. I am happy that the players continue to show good performance. I am happy that the U-23 team was able to win in the first trial,” said PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan on the website PSSI official.
